As of 2/1/23: If getting TX Error. You need to go to gmail in a browser, click on your profile icon in upper right, select "Manage user settings," click "security" on left, scroll down to "Less secure app access" and toggle to "on". That resolved the issue. It's a gmail thing.
mf644 cdw and gmail account here, followed all your steps, didint work BUT, the only thing i had to change was the password that i had to get one from google to use with certains devices ( like printers )

UPDATE*** Google no longer allows “less secure apps” You must first set up Two factor authentication on your Google account under security settings. Then go back to your google account and go to app passwords. Then generate a password. Then go to your Email settings on the printer settings like he is on the video and enter that password instead of your google account password.
This does not fix the issue. Now getting TX Error.

Canon is such a scam. Bought this machine and never get anything worked except for printing. Should have just bought a printer, no Canon anymore
This works only for Workspace google accounts. You should mention that. It won't work with personal google account.

Thank you for the step by step instructions! I've been trying to do this for a couple of years. The crazy thing is that, for me, it was the change that google made with their 2 step verification. As soon as I created an "app password" through my google account, it allowed my printer to see my google account and worked immediately. If anyone thinks this may be their problem too (and I bet it is), read U Fix It Garage's description for this video you are watching right now and it will walk you through. Finally, I can scan to my email!!
